Level of difficulty:
This is a self-guided, point-to-point cycling tour through the rolling countryside of the Languedoc to the Mediteranean sea. It's run by Denise and Bruce, who specialise in the Languedoc region at Vie et Velo. You can pedal at your own pace as you explore the varied terrain and history of the area. The Languedoc is not only the oldest and largest wine-growing area in the world (take that, Bordeaux!), but it's also one of the most historically interesting. Of 37 'Grand sites de France' areas protected for their natural beauty or history, 10 are in Languedoc. Here you'll find coastline and mountains, ancient history and modern market towns full of gastronomic delights. This self-guided ride provides a taste of them all. The price includes 3 nights' accommodation in 3-star hotels or B&Bs, transfers for you and your bike from Montpellier or Beziers, luggage transfers each day, all route notes and GPX files, and one evening meal with a local family at your B&B (table d’hôtes format).
All accommodation has been checked to ensure it meets our cycle-friendly criteria. We also deal with tour operators personally before adding them to the site. To recommend a great French cycling holiday or a nice bike-friendly place to stay, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
