Magazines make great gifts – even in this age of tablets and iPhones, I still like reading *real* magazines. When my cyclist brother-in-law visits us in France, he often comes complete with some old issues of English-language cycling magazines, which he kindly leaves behind when he leaves. Below are some of our favourite magazines about cycling (most are also listed here, in one place, so you can compare them.) Underneath, I've included some France magazines, too, to inspire your next French cycling holiday.

Cycling magazines

Rouleur is a favourite here (and a good idea for a gift subscription). It's a bi-monthly road cycling magazine featuring some of the world's best writers and photographers. It's an accessible piece of bi-monthly art, and perfect for anyone who appreciates good writing and photography. See here for our blog about Cartier-Bresson in Rouleur.

Cycle Sport is the UK's leading magazine for fans of professional road racing. It features comprehensive coverage of the biggest pro events, interviews with the big names in cycling and wonderful action photography.

ProCycling is an upmarket mag with high production values. It features exclusive interviews and top-notch photography from the professional peloton.

Cycling Weekly is Britain’s best-selling cycling magazine – it's aimed at anyone who rides for fun, for fitness or professionally.

Cycling Plus takes more of a practical approach and caters for the rider in us all – it's got road bikes reviews and kit, route suggestions and advice on nutrition, fitness and training. Cyclist magazine is a newer title also aimed at road cyclists.

Bicycle Traveler is an international magazine about cycle touring.

Velo Vision magazine is a celebratoin of bicycle culture worldwide. It's a diverse and at times fascinating read that takes in all aspects of bicycling, including the arts, technnical issues, bikes for transport, bicycle design, and tourism.

Electric Bike magazine does what it says on the tin – it covers all aspects of electric bikes. It's produced by the team at Velo Vision (above) and provides detailed and specialist coverage of biking with a boost.

Travel and lifestyle magazines about France

The largest circulation magazine about France on either side of the Atlantic, France magazine is the largest circulation magazine about France on both sides of the Atlantic. It features travel, French food and wine, culture, and history, as well as interviews with some of France's leading personalities.

FrenchEntrée Magazine is a bi-monthly title featuring travel articles, French recipes, wine recommendations, and the latest cultural news, and book and film reviews. It also has a property section with advice on buying and renovating French homes.

Destination France is a quarterly magazine that aims to celebrate French travel, life and culture with a mix of interesting feature articles and practical information.

Living France is a monthly lifestyle, property and travel magazine designed for English speakers either already living in France or considering a move to France.
