Discover the secrets of the Loire Valley on bike paths and small country roads as you ride pass the most prestigious renaissance castles of the Loire, including Villandry, Azay-le-Rideau and Ussé, the castle that inspired the fairytale Sleeping Beauty. This part of the Loire Valley is also home to the abbey of Fontevraud and beautiful medieval castles and fortresses like Langeais, Chinon and Angers, which houses an impressive medieval tapestry. Discover the changing colours of the Loire and its traditional boats (toues) bobbing between sandbanks. Don't forget to stop at the world-renowned vineyards around Chinon and Saumur. Troglodyte dwellings and picturesque villages will be a constant throughout this self-guided ride with daily distances of 50-60km.
