Located above Briancon with stunning views of the Durance valley, the guys at Chez Bear are spolit for choice. The legendary cols are all here for you to: Col du Galibier, Col d'Izoard and Col du Granon, to name a few. If MTB is more your thing, this is a great base for downhill. Off the bike, there are lots of other activities and sites to see, including visiting ancient villages, hiking, and rock climbing. The building itself is a restored 17th century farmhouse, beautifully decorated with an open plan living area. The lodge offers spectacular panoramic views of the mountains and of the valley below. There are five twin/double bedrooms sleeping 10 people in total, each a deep bath or a walk-in shower (great for tired muscles!) Additional single beds can be added in some of the rooms. A vaulted games room has a pool table, sauna, wet room, cinema screen and multimedia (Apple TV, Netflix, Sky, Wii, DVD, Playstation). There's also a bar area with pizza/bread oven and a balcony overlooking the valley of La Guisane. In short, there's stacks here for you when you're not cycling, as well as heaps to keep non-cycling friends and family happy too (no bike guilt!) English, plus basic French and Spanish spoken.
