La Hut Serein is quirky self-catering accommodation for 3 people. It's a cosy shepherd's hut in the heart of Brittany's wonderful cycling country. It's run by a family of cyclists who know the roads here well. Around 70km from the ferry port at Saint-Malo (mostly via greenway or voie verte routes), 60km west of Rennes and 27km north of Ploërmel, it makes a great base for either exploring this part of Brittany or an ideal stopover en route to the Atlantic coast, the Nantes-Brest Canal or the Euro Velo 1 bike route. "We recently had friends from Wales visit us on their bikes and they had a fabulous time cycling the local area," says Sally, the owner "It made us realise we should try and reach out to more touring cyclists." The hut is like camping – but better and much drier! It has a covered outside kitchen area for cooking and eating, as well as a shower area with a modern composting toilet. Beds made up for your arrival, towels are supplied and Sally can even do a basic shop for you ahead of your arrival. Laundry available for a small charge. English and French spoken.
