From Roman monuments such as Arles’ amphitheatre to scenery that inspired Van Gogh, Avignon’s papal palace and the pink flamingos of the – you’ll find all this and more near the mighty Rhône as it nears the Mediterranean. This self-guided cycling holiday promises a wide variety of cultural experiences, as well as all the natural delights of quintessential Provençal landscapes, such as olive groves and sunflower fields framed by the dramatic hills of the Alpilles, and into the Rhône’s luxuriant delta. Known as the Camargue, it's a wetland area of untamed beauty that is home to thousands of birds, including iconic pink flamingos. The 5-day itinerary is made up of short, gentle, flexible routes that allow you ample time to appreciate your surroundings.
