The Roman amphitheatre and catacombs of Arles and the remains of the Roman town of Glanum near St-Rémy-de-Provence combine with the medieval castle at Tarascon and the stunning façade of the 12th-century St Gilles Abbey in Fontvieille to make this gentle three-day self-guided ride a real treat for lovers of history and architecture. As you cycle from Tarascon and around Arles, you'll also recognise the landscapes that inspired Van Gogh during the most prolific year of his life. From Provençal landscapes to the fringes of the Rhône’s delta, these flexible routes allow you explore at your own pace, saving time and energy to enjoy the region's excellent cuisine and its fine, fruity Costières de Nîmes wines.
