Stay in a real (and still working) French castle, Chateau des Chevaliers de Londigny. There are 3 'suites' and one smaller bedroom for B&B, as well as a self-catering gite, which sleeps 6. Breakfast like a king or queen in the majestic lounges overlooking the countryside. The chateau itelf is open to tourists from April to October. This treat of a base is worth the 9km countryside detour from the Tour de Charente bike route.
